Valorant Agent & Weapon Updates
Real-time Game Update Intelligence
Patch 8.08 Breakdown
Agent Ability Changes
Riot Games has overhauled several controller and initiator kits to improve map control without sacrificing tactical depth. Below are the confirmed adjustments going live with the next ranked season.
Omen – Paranoia
Duration increased from 4 to 6 seconds. Line-of-sight cone now renders through thin smoke geometry, allowing better cross-map coordination. Cooldown remains at 20 seconds.
Jett – Tailwind
Maximum charges reduced from 3 to 2. Dash distance extended by 1.5 meters to compensate. Airborne velocity penalty removed, enabling tighter peek combos around Ascent Mid.
Sova – Owl Drone
Health bumped from 70 to 110. EMP radius expanded to 650 units. Line-of-sight diagrams now show a 15-degree wider vertical tracking angle for elevated site executes.
Ballistics & Firearm Balancing
Weapon Stats
Precision tweaks to hit registration and damage falloff curves aim to reward consistent crosshair placement while reducing spray-transfer frustration in long-range engagements.
Phantom – Damage & Recoil
Headshot damage at 0–15m increased from 153 to 160. Body damage past 20m adjusted to 33 HP. First three shots now feature a 12% tighter vertical recoil pattern, with horizontal spread normalized at the fifth bullet.
Vandal – Falloff Curve
No longer features damage drop-off at any range. However, bullet travel time increased by 0.04 seconds to emphasize leading moving targets on Bind Long.
Judge – Close-Quarters Spread
Pellet count per shot reduced from 12 to 10. Individual pellet damage raised by 4 HP. Effective lethal range now caps at 8.5 meters, down from 10 meters, forcing tighter site retake positioning.
Geometry & Sightline Adjustments
Map Notes
Structural revisions to three competitive staples address long-standing camping routes and improve utility trade efficiency. Updated line-of-sight diagrams confirm revised choke point visibility and crossfire intersections.
Ascent – Mid Boxes
The eastern mid crate has been lowered by 20 units. LOS tracking now shows a direct sightline from Mid Doors to A Main, eliminating the previous 45-degree blind spot. Flash denial routes around the ramp have been widened by 0.8 meters.
Haven – C Site Connector
Removed the low-lying ventilation mesh over C Ramp. Updated LOS overlays confirm a clear 120-degree arc from C Heaven to the site catwalk. Defenders can now pre-fire smoke drops with guaranteed line-of-sight confirmation.
Split – Tunnel Junction
Replaced the broken concrete pillar with a reinforced steel barrier. Sightline diagrams indicate a 30% reduction in accidental peeker’s advantage collisions. Utility placement markers now snap to the new geometry edges for precise vortex and molly rotations.
Ranked & Tournament Protocols
Competitive Rules
The following adjustments to the competitive integrity framework take effect immediately for all unrated, competitive, and ranked play queues. Tournament organizers will align regional brackets with these standards by next quarter.
Agent Pool Restrictions
The restricted agent pool is now limited to 24 characters per match. Teams must submit their final composition lock 90 seconds before round one. Duplicates within a single roster are permitted only if the opposing team fields fewer than five unique agents.
Overtime Format & Timeouts
Standard overtime extends to a 4-round sudden death format. Each squad receives one 60-second tactical timeout per half, with an additional 30-second timeout granted automatically after round 16. Coach communication is strictly limited to the designated headset channel during callouts.
Substitution & Roster Integrity
Emergency subs must be registered 48 hours prior to the series start. Active players missing two consecutive matches without medical documentation will trigger an automatic demotion in the competitive leaderboard. All roster changes must be logged through the official team management portal.
